Who Am I, and Why I Can Help You
By now you might be asking yourself why you should listen to and what makes me an authority on helping individuals repair their relationship with food and their bodies.
My name is Beth Riley. Besides being a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist with 23 years experience in the trenches and the Founder of Riley Wellness Group, I’m a blogger, lecturer, workshop leader and mentor. The bottom line is that I’m an expert who has dedicated her life to helping those suffering from eating and body issues. I’ve been fortunate to have worked alongside and studied under some of the leading experts in the field of overeating, obesity, fitness and nutrition. Now I actually train doctors, therapists, counselors, dietitians and coaches myself.
I’ve seen it all. I’ve heard it all. If you were sitting across from me, I would join with you and understand how you’ve suffered through countless diets only to end up overeating, gaining the weight back and thinking you’re a failure. Call me crazy, but I have a passion for working with clients with these issues. I’ve also suffered through my own struggles with binge eating and body image ,so I can relate to what you’re thinking and feeling. What I’m about to share with you, worked for me and hundreds of clients I’ve treated over the years.
After spending years working with doctors to help co-treat patients with eating disorders, I realized early on that the majority of these doctors had little to no education about binge eating. In recent years the focus has been on obesity medicine and prevention and those with overeating issues have been lumped into that category. Not only did my clients feel judged by their doctors for their weight, but they were rarely (if ever) asked about any problems with eating or body image. The doctors simply recommended another diet and told them to walk 10,000 steps a day.
Sadly, what these doctors don’t realize is that patients end up feeling worse about themselves after going to the appointment and dread returning for a follow up visit.
Now I am not a doctor, but I can confidently say that my experience and training in eating disorders and particularly overeating issues is much more extensive than most doctors (unless they are in the eating disorder field).
Sure, you can keep seeking help from your doctor or searching online, but there’s a lot of misleading information out there that could do more harm than good.
I want to help you avoid that.
That’s why I created the most comprehensive book on binge eating, so you can get to the root of the behaviors, learn tools to conquer them and ultimately find a sustainable way to live your life without food as your enemy.
